Former world number 1, Marat Safin complained about the bad conditions of the court, which is too slow, weak and with some gaps that don't let the ball bounce perfectly. In spite of it, the Russian affirmed that the ground area is new and that they're still in time to adapt their games to the court.

MS " Chile is the favourite team because it's playing home. Gonzalez made a great tournament in Australia. And we hope to do everything we can to win. "

The journalist asked him about Gonzalez and his campain in Australia:

"He's playing very well and it will be very difficult to win, but nothing's impossibe and we will try to do something."

Then the journalist asked if the fact that Youhzny and Davydenko aren't playing is important:

"Well it's because they're playing tournaments in Europe and Youhzny is injured for a long time, and he needs a lot of points this year, and we decided not let him come here, that he should do his things. And Davydenko didn't wanted to play because he had played a lot of tournaments, and they are all in Europe."
